Ethnic Minority Support Centre

The Newry and Mourne Ethnic Minority Support Centre opened in 2007 as Newry and Mourne Council’s response to the changing demographics in the area and the needs of the new migrant communities. The Centre is mainstreamed within core council services and funding is secured through the Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister Good Relation Fund.

The aims of the Centre are as follows:

  • To work with local community groups to increase understanding of ethnic diversity and assist the integration of migrant workers and other ethnic minority individuals into local communities;
  • To facilitate two-way communication between statutory and community groups and ethnic minority groups and individuals;
