This project involves nine Councils (seven from Northern Ireland and two from the Republic of Ireland) working together to obtain the internationally recognised environmental management standard ISO 14001.

The Council holds accreditation until November 2011.

The departments who are currently involved in the system are:

  • MONAGHAN ROW SITE - Environmental Health, Building Control, Finance and Administration.

The following departments have been added to the scope of the system in late 2009:

  • District Development
  • Bagenal’s Castle
  • Kilkeel Leisure Centre

The Council’s ISO 14001 environmental management system is being externally audited in November and December 2009.
